Unconditional Love Vs Stress and Resilience

Techniques to become the best version of you.

In last month’s blog, I included a small section on unconditional love. The feedback from readers told me that this topic deserved a blog of its own.

Unconditional love is an emotion, when we feel this it is transformative and creative – the energy with which everything is made, the power and source of the universe. Everything in the universe is connected by this same energy. There is scientific proof that the electromagnetic activity of the heart caused by unconditional love directly affects our DNA. Human DNA has a lasting effect on the world around it, on a quantum level.

The Feel Good Factor

How we feel changes our DNA, which in turn changes the world around us. The feel good feeling from unconditional love triggers a physical chemical change in our bodies which releases chemicals absorbed by the brain.

When we feel good, and when these positive chemicals are fed into our brain, we make better choices. We communicate and behave differently, feel less threatened by challenges, more motivated, are drawn to healthy foods and behaviours. Hence we have more energy, enhanced immune system, more awareness of opportunities and better confidence.

How you feel affects how you act, which determines all areas of your life. We communicate subconsciously on an energetic level more with our bodies than the words we utter with the people around us on a quantum level. This communication is below the surface, regardless of what you say and do. You have probably experienced a sense of discomfort or exhilaration in someone’s company, even though you have not exchanged a single word.

Unconditional Love is a universal language which everyone understands, it is the language of enthusiasm. Things accomplished with love and purpose, something believed in and desired, become part of a greater good. The language of love is as old as humanity, something that exerts the same force between people- a force that is a catalyst for change, evolution and resilience.
Take the first steps towards resilience by loving your colleagues, your manager, your family and friends, your neighbour, your house, place of work, a stranger, that homeless person on the street etc etc. Nothing is perfect. Just love it as it is, without judgement and it will evolve to its full potential.

Ul is a force of power- we have to top this up regularly unless we want to get to a stage when we are running on empty. We can use it to change the course of our life and relations. Here are a few techniques that will help you to do so.

UL techniques that will help you to become the best version of you

1. Fountain of love

Imagine a happy memory or person who uplifts you. Tune into that feel good feeling- spread it to the cells in your body – all 50 trillion or so and let it fill your body from toe to top. Then direct it to your heart. Then imagine a fountain from your heart and direct this fountain at a challenging person or situation – before the encounter and during- If you feel discomfort with anyone- separate the person from their behaviours and send Ul- as if they are acting the part of a difficult person. Love them regardless. The important thing is to tune into the unconditional bit which is the most potent

You can do the same with pain in your body too. Directly aiming the love at the pain allows it to heal. Each cell works for your optimum health and happiness and is subconsciously programmed to return the body to a state of peak health.

2. Room vortex

Do the same as the first part of the above. Then imagine the fountain filling the whole room you are in. imagine the people and the situation that is uncomfortable in this room and is being drenched by this energy fountain. You may need to do it several times until your anxiety or discomfort is no longer there. If thoughts like ‘this is ridiculous’ or ‘it’s not working’ enter your mind, put these thoughts into the room as well, to release the doubt. The room becomes a vibrational vortex, which has the ability to steer you to everything you desire in your life.

3. Meta bhavna

This is a traditional Buddhist practice where you direct the fountain of love to five people one at a time. Firstly to yourself, then someone you love, someone you do not like, someone who you know exists, but you do not have a relationship with, and lastly to someone who inspires you.
It is immensely liberating to love someone you do not like, or even a situation you do not like. What we don’t like is darkness and UL is the light you throw on it to dissipate the darkness. This will release you of the darkness and free you from the burden.

4. Gratitude

Learn to give gratitude for the beauty around you- we are all connected with the same energy so that beautiful sunrise or fragrant flower are a manifestation of the same force within you. It is an expression of your self-love. According to the law of attraction, the energy we vibrate out attracts more of the same (Abrahim and Hicks), so when you get out of the negative state to a joyful state you attract more happiness into your life. When you are feeling good, there is no resistance to the things you want to attract in your life. Acknowledge every good thing in your life as an expression of love and acceptance from yourself to yourself.

5. Be in the moment

You are tuning in and engaging in that universal creative energy when you are in the moment. If you want a nice object from a room you have to go in the room in the first place! The room is you and you have to tune into your own creative and healing energy to access it for your health and happiness.

6. Affirmations

You can also tune in to all of the above by narrating affirmations to yourself. Here are some helpful ones.

‘I love myself unconditionally and only attract good people and situations in my life’
‘I am brimming with unconditional love for myself and those around me’’
‘I am loved and willing to release everything that blocks my goodness’
‘Love is in me and around me’
‘I give thanks for health, happiness, prosperity and joy in my life’

When you say the affirmation the cells in your body automatically go into that state.

7. Virtual hug

Imagine you are loving and hugging the inside of you. There is no need to move your arms. Just imagine the hug and say you love yourself unconditionally. You can do this to others by giving them a virtual hug, you will be surprised by how this can uplift you.

Remember you are developing the skill of using unconditional love to build your resilience and growth. It takes time like learning to swim or cooking so practice, practice and practice- at least a few times a day- until perfect. Your aim is that when you feel a glimpse of stress or anxiety that you use these techniques by default and overcome that feeling swiftly.

A good metaphor to understand this process is to imagine the stress as dark energy and the UL as the switch that transforms the darkness into light. It is how you feel most of the time that determines what you create and attract in your life. UL is that switch. The most important first step is to do this for yourself. You cannot shed light on others when you are in darkness yourself.
Love the outcome of situations or people, no matter how difficult. This may not necessarily change that person, but changes how you deal with them, minimising the stressful impact on you. When you release that discomfort of the person or situation you release it from your body.

You can send UL to yourself, other people and situations eg difficult meeting, interview, etc. You will be surprised by the change in your approach and outcome.

In summary, using UL helps release resistance and stress, which in turn allows the circumstances and people concerned into a positive zone which in turn leads to positive outcomes. Keep up the techniques for a few months to enjoy the turn to a better positive life path.

Remember you have the power to change your life to be the best version of you.
